Description

Naming

A new hop from Oregon, McKenzie™ is named after the McKenzie River, a 90-mile tributary of the Willamette River in Western Oregon. 2021 was the first crop year for this hop.

Origin Story

McKenzie™ C-148c.v. is the first variety released by the West Coast HopBreeding Company (WCHB) of Aurora, Oregon.  It is a company comprised of 6 hop growers who strive for sustainability by developing varieties specifically tailored to Oregon’s growing conditions. McKenzie™ was specifically bred to be grown in Oregon and highlight the area’s terroir.
