Description

Naming

The Simcoe name honors the French-Canadian heritage of many of the hop growers in the Yakima Valley. Jason Perrault is the hop breeder who developed the Simcoe® variety. His ancestors migrated from Simcoe County, Ontario.

Origin Story

Simcoe is a dual-purpose hop. It was developed by Yakima Chief Ranches and released in 2000. Simcoe YCR 14 is known for its brewing versatility and unique aroma characteristics. It continues to rise in popularity becoming one of the top ten varieties in the craft and home brewing industries.
